History
Due to the systemic barriers the methods to which access is created is through training and skills development initiatives. The expression of media arts is then possible through the acquisition of related skills. Some of the examples of ICMI’s work include:
- Facilitation of media arts with Urban Aboriginal Youth in Ottawa, Ontario Dec 08 - present
- Facilitation of After School Digital Directions Program in Ottawa, Sept 09 - present
- Summer Youth Project with 6 Ottawa youth traveling to Manitoulin Island and Chapleau First Nation to collaborate with Mushkegowuk youth Aug 2010
- Summer Youth Project with 4 Urban Aboriginal youth at Odawa Friendship Centre July-Aug 2009. Youth received secondary school coop credits
- Summer Youth project with 2 Moose Cree youth at Moose River Broadcasting Association Moose Factory, July-Aug 09
- Facilitation of cross cultural youth project with Ottawa youth traveling to Moose Factory On Feb 5-23, 2010

- Youth Media Arts Workshop Series – August 2006
- ICMI in partnership with Weeneebeg Film Festival and De-ba-jeh-mu-jig Theatre Group offered a series of workshops to the youth of the Moose Cree First Nation in Moose Factory, Ontario from August 8-26, 2006. The workshops included media and performance arts
- The art works created by these youth were distributed to the ICMI webpage and screened during the Weeneebeg Film Festival
- Production and post-production equipment was left in the community to aid in the sustainability of the project after workshop completion
- These youth videos were submitted to the Cherokee international film festival in September 2006 where one youth video won their documentary film award.

- ICMI partnered with Nya:weh Indigenous student program to bring youth to the Canadian Indigenous Festival at the Roger’s Centre in Toronto in October 2006
