Mandate

ICMI was created out of a recognized need for Indigenous access into the arts. Through project initiatives, productions, educational and workshop endeavors, ICMI opens its doors to the Indigenous/Aboriginal/Inuit communities. One of the organization's main objectives is the promotion of Indigenous art and artists, which is created through arts skills development initiatives. The expression and production of arts is then possible through the acquisition of related skills. ICMI welcomes all skill levels; from the emerging artist to the established professional. ICMI aims to create programming and productions that offer creative expression, employment opportunity and the development of artistic talent.


Mission Statement

ICMI offers services to the Indigenous community through support of individual professional artists, arts organizations, or other elements of the arts community

ICMI offers support to the Indigenous community through the creation of media arts, and the production or dissemination of artistic works by professional Indigenous artists

ICMI supports the professional practice of Indigenous artists through activities which include professional development, research, training, professional services, advocacy, education and dissemination of information;

ICMI supports Indigenous artists by organizing activities and providing services to increase access to training, education and employment opportunities.

ICMI provides services to enhance the long term employability and life skills of Indigenous people through programs which will promote Indigenous culture and language retention and serve to enrich life in Indigenous communities

ICMI provides media arts training and educational programming which offers skills in up to date, cutting edge digital technology


Charitable Objectives

The objectives of Indigenous Culture and Media Innovations are as follows:

  1. To improve and enhance the quality of life for Indigenous people with priority to youth and women.
  2. To reduce conditions of poverty in the Indigenous community with priority to youth and women.
  3. To create opportunities for broader awareness and understanding about the Indigenous community.


Activities

ICMI will fulfill the objects of the organization in through following purposes and activities.

  1. By increasing access to education, training and employment for the Indigenous community
  2. By organizing activities and provide services to Indigenous peoples which enhances their training, education and employment opportunities
  3. By enhancing long term employability and life skills of Indigenous people through programs which will promote Indigenous culture and language retention and serve to enrich life in Indigenous communities
